Helen O'Sullivan-Tyrrell is an Irish artist living in Tervuren, Belgium. Helen paints in a variety of styles and media, but mainly acrylics and oils. A figurative painter, her subjects vary from still life, portraiture, landscape, architecture and most recently animals.
"My work is figurative in style but I seek to go beyond merely representing what I see, or illustrating my subjects. In painting animals I have discovered a subject which can convey human traits and expressions. I try to invoke an emotional response with my portraits. I hope that the viewer recognizes the human qualities – possibly their own selves - in their expressions."
